FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS The COPS More Universal Hiring Grant that the Roseville Police Department is pursuing will allow for the salary of a full-time, entry level officer for a period of three years. The grant money awarded shall not exceed $75,000 per officer with the balance of the entry level officer's salary provided by the City of Roseville. The grant would therefore provide $150,000 if two full-time officers were requested. Should the Roseville Police Department be awarded this grant, the City of Roseville would be responsible for a portion of the entry level officer's salary. That amount (over a three year grant period) would be $71,568. A requirement of this grant is that the agency awarded the grant monies commit to retaining the officer for twelve months after the date of grant expiration. The officer's salary breakdown per year follows: Year One: Year Two: Year Three: Year Four: The above salaries $42,100.00 $49,705.00 $54,763.00 $59,692.00 include FICA and benefits. If we include the City's portion of the salary for the first three years with the fourth year salary, the total cost to the City for a full-time officer for four years of service would be approximately $131,260.00. The City's total cost for two additional officers over a four year period would be $262,520.00. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Allow the police department to apply for this Department of Justice grant.
