Application for Vacancy on Roseville Ethics Commission
Amy J. Xhlan
If the citizens of Roseville perceive public servants to be unethical, they will not be
able to trust their local government, or respect its authority. I would like to serve
on the Roseville Ethics Commission because I believe that it can provide some
objective oversight over the activities of Roseville elected officials, and neutrally
investigate the complaints and concerns of Roseville residents. I am uniquely
qualified for the Ethics Commission, because I have researched and thought
extensively about moral issues in studying for my Ph.D. in Philosophy at the
tJniversity of Minnesota, where I specialized in ethics and political thought. As a
lawyer, I also have a good understanding of the legal framework that governs the
ethics of public officials. I am very interested in becoming more politically active in
my community, and would greatly appreciate this opportunity to serve the city
government and the public. If you have any questions, or need any f'urthei
information in support of my application, please contact me.
