2002 City of Roseville <br />Referendum <br />Meeting Residents' Needs for Improved Police and Public Works <br />On Election Day, Roseville citizens will vote on a referendum that seeks funds to bring police and <br />public works facilities in Roseville up to state and federal standards and to cost-effectively and effi- <br />ciently meet future needs. This flyer provides details about the funding request so that you can make <br />an informed decision when you go to the polls on November 5. <br />The City of Roseville is asking voters to authorize the sale of $$$ million in general obligation bonds <br />to fund upgrades to police and public works facilities. <br />Police <br />What is the need: <br />Increase the number of Salley Ports to four <br />allows police officers to safely transport <br />criminals to locked holding cells. It reduces <br />flight risk and helps ensure the safety of police <br />and the public. <br />Federal law mandates thatjuveniles be kept <br />separate from adult criminals and men be kept <br />separate from women. Currently police <br />officers must shuffle those arrested to accom- <br />modate the others who are arrested. <br />The Cost <br />If the referendum is successful, the City will <br />begin remodeling in spring 2003. The impac <br />of a$$$million referendum would be divided <br />among all property owners in Roseville over <br />a period of XX years. <br />Value of Property <br />$130,000 <br />$140,000 <br />Annual tax <br />$xx <br />$xx. <br />* Detention area directly accessible from the Sa11ey Ports would help police to keep criminals <br />separate from victims and witnesses. <br />� Space for officers to access lastest technological advances in crime mapping that can track up <br />to the minute information on various crimes. <br />� Private reporting stations with computers would allow officers to privately complete their <br />paperwork without distractions, reducing the risk of errors that could allow criminals to go free. <br />* Private areas for investigatorsto hold confidential telephone conversations or interviews with <br />victims and witnesses. <br />* Record storage area that would ensure confidentiality and would allow for multi-year storage. <br />Staff would be able to retrieve police reports more quickly. <br /># Add a night entrance to Police Department to improve access and provide safety for someone <br />waiting for the police. <br />
