Family members, <br />friends and the community suffer when a person abuses alcohol and illegal drugs. The US Department of <br />Health and Human Services' Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is <br />working to educate the public about the effectiveness of treatment, the nature of addiction, the positive out <br />come of treatment and the importance of treatment programs and services in the community. <br />Each year for the past 13 years, the SAN�ISA has declared September National Alcohol and Drug Addiction <br />Recovery Month. They seek support in their efforts to raise public awareness about this very important issue. <br />Council Action Reauested: <br />Mayoral Proclamation to declare September as National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month. <br />
