Department Approval: <br />�� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Manager Approved: <br />Date: 09/03/02 <br />Item: II. <br />Special Election <br />Public Safety/ <br />PublicWorks Facilities <br />Date: 8/19C2002 <br />1� N�: �. �.� <br />Agenda Section: <br />Organizational Business <br />Item Description: Calling a Special Election, and Consideration of Election Ballot Language for the <br />Purposes of Issuing General Obligation Bonds <br />Introduction <br />Per Council's direction, the attached documents have been prepared by the City's Bond Counsel <br />of Briggs & Morgan, for consideration in calling a special election. <br />The language suggested by Bond Counsel has been selected to allow flexibility for the City in <br />expending the bond proceeds, yet provide a clear intent to the overall purpose. The Council has <br />at its discretionto be more specificthan the drafted language. <br />The terms "acquisition" and "betterment" are recommended because they are defined in Statute. <br />A copy of the applicable statute is enclosed.
