REQUE ST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />I�e: 1 0/21/2002 <br />Item No: XL I. <br />Department ApprovaL Manager Approved: Agenda Section: <br />C�/ ���� �; �C,�Q� Consent <br />Item Description: Establishing a Hearing for Unpaid Utility and Other Charges <br />Background <br />As authorized by City Ordinance, Sections 506, 801, and 802, the City annually certifies to the <br />County Auditor any unpaid false alarm, water, sewer, and other charges that are in excess of 90 <br />days past due, for collection on the following year's real estate taxes. <br />In accordance with these City Ordinances and the certification process, a public hearing is to be <br />scheduled and published in the City's official newspaper. Property owners receiving a notice of <br />unpaid charges will have an opportunity to dispute and/or appeal the charges at the hearing. <br />At the conclusion of the hearing, the City Council will be asked to approve, by resolution, all <br />unpaid fees and charges to be certified for collection. <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends setting the hearing for Monday, December 2, 2002. <br />Council Action Requested <br />Motion to approve the setting of a public hearing to consider the certification of unpaid fees and <br />charges, for Monday, December 2, 2002. <br />
