We understand that the
motion will be addressed by the City Council on October 21, 2002.
I am writing on behalf of the North Suburban Golden K Kiwanis, a service club of over
100 members, appromately half of whom are Roseville citizens. We are a SO1(Cx4)
organization which has been doing community service work in the City of Roseville for
the last 20 years. Our informal partnership with Roseville has involved too many events
and programs to list completely, but here are some of the things we have done in just the
last 12 months:
>Contributed over $3 100.00 directly to Roseville City activities such as the Parks
and Recreation Department, the Roseville Parade, the Roseville Senior Program
and the Soap Box Derby. For example, we recently purchased a$550.00 coat rack
for the John Rose Oval meeting rooms.
>Volunteered hundreds of hours worth thousands of dollars to Roseville activities
such as Run for the Roses, Soap Box Derby, Early Childhood at Parkview School,
Roseville Arboretum, Adopt a Park, Star of the North Games, Great American
Shootout, and the Nature Center.
Sold 590 Rosefest tickets, providing a net $1475.00 to the Roseville Parade
fund.
>Operated the Fairview Center Food Shelf as a branch of the Neighbor-to
Neighbor Social Service Agency. We volunteered over 400 hours which
Neighbor-to-Neighbor estimated at a value of $5100.00. We donated $450.00 for
fresh bread and margarine and gave out 3 1,654 lbs. of food to 44 1 families.
