Human fights Essay
Since I go to school, I was interested in reading about an article in the paper
which discussed a school in St. Paul that was trying to become more racially diverse.
The topic of racial diversion in schools has been going on for many years now. My
mom talks about when the schools were forced to desegregate when she was in high
school in the 1960 5 s. t that time, there were v iolept riots and discrimination against
other races. It is hard for me to understand this because throughout my school years, I
have been joined with lids from many different races. It doesn't sera like that much of
problem to me, but I have to remember that I have never been in a class where I was
the only white person.
I decided to relate this article in the paper to Article 26 of the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights. This Article statesthat everyone has the right to
education, and education shall be directed to the full development of the human
personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental
freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all rations,
and racial or religious groups. I think that it is a good idea that this school changed
their qualifying test so that kids from different races have the same opportunity to get
into this accelerated school. I think that other schools need to follow in this process
because a blended racial class makes for a better education.
By,
Josh Farr
7th Grade .M.S
