CLARA BARTON S ��c D C-� <br />Clara Barton was born in 1821 and she lived a wonderful <br />life. Clara was small but stron and when she determined <br />to be a success at an success was usuall assured, <br />Clara fou for the ri to education. The place where <br />she lived had onl one private school which char tuition, So, <br />Clara decided to start a school of her own, which was free, Word <br />spread and there were so man pu-'-pils that Clara had to g ive up <br />the school, it was too much for just one teacher. <br />Durin the Civil War Clara fou for vioments ri She <br />became a nurse even thou onl men were nurses at the time, <br />Man people disapproved of her enterin the profession but Clara <br />proved that she could do j ust as well as a man'. She worked so <br />hard after ever battle that she became known as "The An of <br />the Battlefield" <br />Clara also founded the American Red Cross. In 1882 Con <br />appointed her President of the Red Cross, Clara did a lot of <br />travelin for the Red Cross, She helped the -stbk the wounded <br />and the d Clara and the Red Cross saved man lives.
