Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday, May 17, 2010 <br /> Page 16 <br /> at her property, and asked that the City consider that area further for a potential <br /> solution. <br /> Steve Gjerdingen, 2553 Fisk (on PWET Commission) <br /> Mr. Gjerdingen spoke in support of the project to further enhance the bike corri- <br /> dor and any pathway along Fairview and adjacent to Rosedale, as a great addition <br /> to the community. Mr. Gjerdingen concurred that every trail didn't need to be 8' <br /> wide, but he didn't want to derail the project for possible redesign, and the overall <br /> project was a good one and should move forward. <br /> Jim DeBenedet, 808 Millwood Avenue (Chair of PWET) <br /> Mr. DeBenedet, an original member of the Non Motorized Pathway Committee, <br /> and current Chair of the City's Public Works, Environment and Transportation <br /> Commission, spoke in full support of this project to get pedestrians off Rose <br /> ville's busy streets and into a safer designated area for them; and spoke in support <br /> of constructing all of the proposed non motorized pathways indicated in the <br /> Pathway Master Plan. <br /> Mary Parks, 2066 Fairview Avenue <br /> Ms. Parks indicated that she had provided written comments by e -mail to the City <br /> Council; opining that safety was the most important thing. <br /> Gary Grefenberg, 91 Mid Oaks Lane <br /> Mr. Grefenberg noted there appeared to be no uniform consensus in this neigh- <br /> borhood, with many supporting it as a vital link to the neighborhood, especially in <br /> the winter, with no thru- streets between Snelling and Fairview Avenues. Mr. <br /> Grefenberg opined that this was an important project and spoke in support of it to <br /> connect his own southwest Roseville neighborhood. Mr. Grefenberg expressed <br /> his favorable impressions with the individual attention and sensitivity of City staff <br /> to individual property owners; and encouraged that such communication continue; <br /> noting that staff went above and beyond in ensuring that plantings and trees were <br /> replaced if their removal was necessary during construction. Mr. Grefenberg <br /> opined that this was a great project, and thanked Councilmembers for allowing <br /> the neighborhood to speak to it. <br /> Gene Gjerdingen, 2553 Fisk <br /> Mr. Gjerdingen spoke in support of the project, noting that this had long been a <br /> problem area for bikers in Roseville, and expressed his anticipation of the im- <br /> proved safety in all seasons. <br /> Mr. Harris <br /> Mr. Harris questioned who would be responsible for the costs for relocating por- <br /> tions of underground sprinkler systems if necessary when they were. installed right <br /> up to the street. <br />
