<br />,. <br /> <br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City <br />council of the city of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly <br />held on the loth day of October, 1994, at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Goedeke, P. Johnson, Mastel, <br />Wiski, and V. Johnson, and the following were absent: None. <br /> <br />Member Goedeke introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 9107 <br /> <br />CHARACTER COUNTS WEEK <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the present and future well-being of our society requires an <br />involved caring citizenry with good moral character; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the character and conduct of our youth reflect the character <br />and conduct of society; therefore, every adult has the responsibility <br />to teach and model the core ethical values, and every social <br />institution has the responsibility to promote the development of good <br />character; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Josephson Institute of Ethics, a highly regarded non- <br />profit national organization headquartered in Marina Del Ray, <br />California, has launched a national Character Counts movement by <br />forming the National Character Counts Coalition; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the coalition is built upon the common ground of consensus <br />ethical values that form the foundation of a democratic society, in <br />particular, trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring <br />and citizenship, called the six Pillars of Character; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, October 16 - 22, 1994, has been proclaimed National Character <br />Counts Week; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Roseville Rotary Club is spearheading a community effort <br />to organize a local unit of the Character Counts Coalition to promote <br />and coordinate character development activities in the North Suburban <br />area; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Roseville joins with <br />other local organizations in recognizing October 16-22, 1994, as <br />Character Counts Week in the North Suburban Area. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly <br />seconded by Member P. Johnson, and upon a vote being taken thereon, <br />the following voted in favor thereof: Goedeke, P. Johnson, Mastel, <br />Wiski, and V. Johnson, and the following voted against the same: <br />None. <br />
