<br />EXTRACT OF MINlffES OF REGULAR MEET ING OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF ROSEVILLE, MINNESOTA - HELD <br /> <br />September 30, 1974 <br /> <br />* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *~ <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting <br />of the City Council of the City of Roseville, Minnesota, was duly <br />called and held at the City Hall in said City on the 30th day of <br />September, 1974, at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Mayor Linebarger, <br />Councilmen Brennan, Curley, Demos and Hess. <br /> <br />and the following were absent: None <br /> <br />Member Curley introduced the following resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 6171 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there are two adult non-smokers for every one <br />tobacco smoker in the United States and at least 34 million of these <br />Americans are sensitive to tobacco smoke; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, studies indicate that other people's cigarette smoke <br />causes the heart to beat faster and increases blood pressure; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, tobacco smoke can irritate throats, lungs, eyes and <br />sinuses to cause discomfort and headache; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Roseville has banned <br />outside burning to help assure a pollution-free environment; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF ROSEVILLE, MINNESOTAS, as follows: <br /> <br />1. That the City Council will not smoke cigars, cigarettes or <br />pipes during the October 7, 1974 Council Meeting. <br /> <br />'lne motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly <br />seconded by Member Demos and upon a vote being held thereon, the following <br />voted in favor thereof: All present <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: None <br /> <br />M-lliREUPON, said Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />
