<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE, RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />HELD - February 24, 1975 <br /> <br />* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting <br />of the City Council of the City of Roseville, Minnesota, was duly held <br />at the City Hall in said City on Monday, February 24, 1975, at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Mayor Linebarger, <br />Councilmen Curley, Demos, Hess and Brennan <br /> <br />and the following were absent: None. <br /> <br />Member Demos introduced and moved the adoption of the <br />following resolution: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 6219 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Senate File No. 436 has been introduced which is <br />a bill for an act which would allow the sale of wine in Grocery Stores; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is our understanding that a companion bill for the <br />same act is being prepared for introduction in the House of Representatives; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, passage of this bill would increase substantially the <br />number of new outlets for the sale of wine, an intoxicating beverage; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we believe an act such as this would increase the <br />number of illegal sales to the intoxicated, the minor and the problem <br />drinker; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we feel that the sale of an intoxicating beverage such <br />as wine should be sold only in exclusive liquor stores to maintain <br />effective controls; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council <br />of Ros~ville hereby request the members of the State Legislature and the <br />Governor to vote against or reject any bill which would allow the sale of <br />any intoxicating beverage in other than an exclusive liquor store. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was <br />duly seconded by Council man Hess and upon a vote being taken thereon, the <br />following voted in favor thereof: All present <br />
