moved here last year and we had a street light about maybe 30
feet away from our bedroom before, and for ten years I slept
fine and I don't care if they put it by my transformer and
neither does my neighbor. It doesn't make any difference, but
I don't think it will hinder any of my sleep or anybody else's.

MAYOR DEMOS: I f you do put it there, we would want to
light up as much of the street as possible and I'm talking about
the street surface, and it would be necessary - if we put it
down too far we will not get any light on the Circle or cul-
de-sac, and occasionally people do get mixed up looking for
streets and with the Galtier Circle and Street, you know
someone might come in looking and if it weren't light you get
down there before you realize what's going on.

FROM THE AUDIENCE: Transit from Rice to our Circle is
completely black and it's very dark and very bad in the winter-
time especially. Summertime isn't so bad, but in the wintertime
it's really dark so we really would like to have the light.
I'm for it if we could settle something tonight because we
would like it. I'm also one of these whose husband works the
graveyard shift and we back up to the woods and we have many
beer parties every Friday night behind the woods and I'm a
little leary to be home alone.

MAYOR DEMOS: At this time I'm going to ask the Council
to make its decision.

COUNCILMAN ANDERSON: If you put in the two-,lights you're
going to have a difference in cost of approximately what the
cost is of this other one so what you'd have is roughly double
the cost of what you have now and you'd divide it among the
13 lots here and three more across the street and that would
be l6 lots. Is that right?

MR. STRONG: This light costs more than this light even
if this was ornamental because this can be served by an over-
head area. Northern States Power has one rate (inaUdible) and
this can only be served by an underground system for which they
charge a higher rate because they cannot use the lines for
anything but street lights. Down here you can have the under-
ground, and the only cost will be the installation. Then it
reverts to the overhead rate. This will always be an ornamental
rate so you can't just double this and expect both lights to be
the same. This will always cost less.
