living on North Ryan to be included in the Oxford proposal
because they will be getting benefit from this. I wonder
if the engineering department has done any study on the
amount of traffic from the people on North Ryan going, or
using, Oxford in the last years. I believe the council
members know that the Lexington Avenue traffic has been
increasing. The county has been thinking of a four-way
road there on Lexington. The traffic - if you're trying
to make a left hand turn going south off Ryan, it's vir-
tually impossible. In retrospect, if you're corning south
on Lexington trying to turn onl it becomes impossible.
I talked to some of the workmen working on Shryer and they
had to find different alternate route coming north. They
had to find another way to get to work because of the in-
creased amount of traffic. Therefore, I wonder if the
engineers had done any other study on extending Oxford to
Rosel8Wn - if you were thinking of something in the future
where you would be considering a signal light or something.
If you were really considering the welfare of the people of
North Ryan, would you consider extending Oxford over to
Roselawn so, therefore, we would have another access and
be then using - as you say, getting some advantage because
most of us now are coming out Chatsworth, and as the project
stands now, I'm against it.

MR. HONCHELL: We have not proposed to extend Oxford
to Roselawn.

MR. GEORGE SASSEN, 1011 Ryan: I'm going to make a few
comments. I believe that our street is in good driving
condition right now - and I have taken issue with maintenance
forces out there scattering out a little bituminous here
and there. I even went so far as to call Mr. Johnson - I
guess he was in charge of maintenance one time - and voice
my disapproval at trying to spread a few shovels of asphalt
over a block of street. I do have a little experience in
this field so I know what I'm talking about. You can't put
bituminous on top of dirt and make it stay. You can't put
bituminous on water and make it stay, so when you talk about
the high maintenance of streets, I think it's the maintenance
management problem It's a problem of putting down bituminous
