Job creation and <br />retention, increase in fiscal capacity, and improvement of the quality of life for Roseville citizens require the <br />mutual efforts of all. <br />Council goals for economic development are to: <br />• continue to maintain a positive balance befinreen residential and commercial/industrial land use <br />. strengthen the business community, while decreasing the dependency on retail development <br />• retain existing business and attract new ones <br />. continue to redevelop the blighted commercial/industrial areas <br />Environmental Preservation <br />The City Council is committed to preserve and to protect Roseville's beauty, vitality and serenity. The Councilwill <br />work to ensure that development and redevelopment of the Community's physical assets will be in harmony with <br />our environment and quality of life. <br />The Council's environmental goals are to: <br />• identify and solve local pollution problems through clean-up, mitigation and prevention <br />. increase forestation and appropriate green landscaping where applicable <br />. work toward the reduction of noise pollution, particularly along the Highway 36 corridor <br />. continue the emphasis on waste reduction and the improvement of the community's recycling efforts <br />. promote publictransportation and non-motorized travel <br />. protect sensitive and unique natural ecosystems within the City <br />. continue the emphasis on strong programs which develop environmental awareness in all of our citizenry <br />Community Housing Needs <br />Roseville intends to continue to offer a mix of attractive, safe and well-maintained housing which is available <br />without discrimination. These specific housing goals are to: <br />. balance different types of housing altematives to meet the need of residents <br />f encourage maintenance and upgrading of existing homes <br />. develop and maintain close knit neighborhoods, including multi-unit developments <br />. upgrade amenities and necessities citywide to maintain and improve property values <br />• help keep educational and religious institutionsas part of the community <br />Leisure Opportunities <br />�tt�:�f���.�irase�+ill�,�.u���i�1�o�al�.lr� 1 � i�(��4 <br />
