Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 18, 2010 <br />Commissioners Present: Chair David Singleton; Commissioners Liz Jaeger, Peg Kennedy, <br />Thelma McKenzie, Marie Oftelie and Barb Yates. Commissioner <br />Gary Grefenberg arrived at 6:45 p.m. <br />1. Call to Order: Chair David Singleton called meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. The Clerk <br />called the roll. <br />2. Approve Minutes of June 18, 2010 <br />Commissioner Barb Yates moved and Commissioner Liz Jaeger seconded approval of the <br />minutes. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />3. Staff /Committee Reports <br />3a. Visions of Success Subcommittee <br />Commissioner Liz Jaeger reported that the committee has set the community dialogue for <br />Monday, October 25 at the Roseville Skating Center. They are in the process of contacting <br />planners from the previous dialogues and hope to set an initial planning meeting soon. <br />Commissioner Peg Kennedy moved and Commissioner Yates seconded motion to accept the <br />committee report. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />3b. Program Planners Subcommittee <br />Commissioner Marie Oftelie reported that the committee is working on efforts to foster <br />community. They hope the October dialogue can be an incubator for civic engagement ideas. <br />They are considering holding a community workshop to find out what are issues of concern. <br />They are also considering establishing an advisory committee to get more involvement. <br />Commissioner Jaeger moved and Commissioner Kennedy seconded motion to accept the <br />committee report. Motion prevailed unanimously. <br />3c. Data Geeks Subcommittee <br />Commissioner Kennedy said she received crime statistics from Police Chief Rick Mathwig and <br />No Child Left Behind (NCLB) statistics from the State of Minnesota, which had just been <br />released. They will continue to collect whatever statistics are available. <br />Commissioner Yates said they are looking for data sets that specifically impact Roseville. <br />Commissioner Kennedy explained Roseville's NCLB averages are higher than the state averages <br />
