Variance Board Meeting City Council Chambers, 2660 Civic Center Drive Minutes - Wednesday, April 07, 2010 1. Call to Order 1 Chair Daniel Boerigter called to order the Variance Board meeting at 6:15 p.m. and 2 reviewed the role and purpose of the Variance Board. 3 2. Roll Call & Introductions 4 City Planner Thomas Paschke called the Roll. 5 Members Present: Chair Daniel Boerigter; Commissioners John Gisselquist and Andre 6 Best. 7 Staff present: City Planner Thomas Paschke; Associate Planner Bryan Lloyd 8 3. Review of Minutes 9 MOTION 10 Member Boerigter moved, seconded by Member Gisselquist, to approve meeting 11 minutes of August 5, 2009 as presented. 12 Ayes: 3 13 Nays: 0 14 Motion carried. 15 4. Public Hearings 16 a. PLANNING FILE 10-009: Request by Peter Anderson for approval of a 17 VARIANCE to Roseville City Code, Section 1004 (Residential Districts) to 18 allow a porch expansion that would encroach into the required setback from 19 a front property line at 1830 Oxford Street 20 Chair Boerigter opened the Public Hearing for Planning File 10-009 at 6:18 pm. 21 Associate Planner Bryan Lloyd reviewed staff’s analysis of the request of Mr. 22 Anderson to allow the construction of a porch that would encroach seven feet (7’) 23 into the required setback from the front property line, as detailed in the Request 24 for Variance Board Action dated April 7, 2010. 25 Staff recommended APPROVAL of the requested VARIANCE to Roseville City 26 Code, Section 1004 (Residence Districts) for Peter Anderson, 1830 Oxford Street 27 (PF10-009); based on the comments and findings of Section 5 and the condition 28 of Section 6 of the project report dated April 7, 2010. 29 Discussion included clarification of the actual footage; and confirmation by staff 30 that no public comment had been received to-date related to this request. 31 Applicant, Peter Anderson, 1830 Oxford Street 32 Mr. Anderson was present but had no additional comment beyond the staff report 33 as presented. 34 Chair Boerigter asked if Mr. Anderson had verbal approval from his immediately 35 adjacent neighbors for this variance. 36 Mr. Anderson advised that he had spoken to approximately six (6) of his 37 neighbors, with all providing positive feedback, supporting the improved 38 aesthetics and value to the neighborhood. At the request of Chair Boerigter, Mr. 39 Anderson advised that he had spoken to the neighbor immediately on the north 40 side who expressed support for the variance request; however, noted that he had 41 been unable to contact the neighbor immediately to the south. 42 Chair Boerigter closed the Public Hearing at 6:22 p.m., with no one appearing for 43 or against. 44
