Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,January 24,2011 <br /> Page 2 <br /> Councilmember Willmus expressed his appreciation to Ms. Stellwagen for her <br /> comments; and encouraged her to talk to the City's Park and Recreation Director <br /> Lonnie Brokke as well. <br /> Councilmember McGehee noted she had also heard concerns raised by citizens <br /> regarding smoke detector inspections and requirements to hard wire and replace <br /> units already in place. <br /> Councilmember Pust arrived at this time. <br /> 4. Council Communications, Reports and Announcements <br /> Mayor Roe announced an upcoming City of Shoreview Human Rights Commission <br /> North Suburban meeting scheduled from 6:00 — 9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011 <br /> at the Shoreview Community Center to discuss religious diversity in area communities. <br /> Mayor Roe noted that the event was free, but they asked for pre-registration to facilitate <br /> the light meal planned; and encouraged area residents to attend to engage in the dialogue. <br /> For additional information or to R.S.V.P., call 651/490-4613. <br /> Councilmember Willmus advised that the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Organizing <br /> Team was initiating their organization and implementation process for the recently- <br /> adopted Master Plan, and was actively seeking citizens to become involved in one or <br /> more of the seven (7) working groups. Recognitions,Donations, Communications <br /> Mayor Roe noted that the agenda would remain fluid as the City Council awaited the ar- <br /> rival of some participants in tonight's meeting. <br /> b. Black History Month <br /> Mayor Roe read a proclamation declaring February 2011 to be Black History <br /> Month in the City of Roseville, urging all citizens to join together to recognize the <br /> contributions made by African Americans to our nation's economic strength, his- <br /> tory, music, arts, written words, and discoveries often overlooked. <br /> Willmus moved, Pust seconded, a proclamation declaring February 2011 to be <br /> Black History Month in the City of Roseville, urging all citizens to join together <br /> to recognize the contributions made by African Americans to our nation's eco- <br /> nomic strength, history, music, arts, written words, and discoveries often over- <br /> looked. <br /> Roll Call <br />
