Submitted by: David A Singleton 12-14-2010 <br /> CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION <br /> 2010 END OF THE YEAR REPORT <br /> CHAIR'S STRATEGIC PLAN FOR 2011 <br /> (Goals and Objectives) <br /> END OF YEAR REPORT/2010 ACCOMPLISHMENTS: <br /> Roseville Police Department and the Human Rights Commission co-sponsored a Community <br /> Engagement Dialogue with members of the Karen community. <br /> Roseville Human Rights Commission and Minnesota State Department of Human Rights co-sponsored <br /> a one day conference regarding our statutory responsibility to assist the State in enforcing Human <br /> Rights. <br /> Completed a retreat on Board development with Richard and Irina Furhsman. Established temporary <br /> Committees to carry c. t Board training goals and objectives through the end of the year 2010. <br /> Applied and received funding from MN State Department of Human Rights and the Bremer Foundation <br /> Chair and Vice Chair attended the 2010 Rose parade joined by our First and Second place essay contest <br /> winners 2009 <br /> Annual October 2010 Community Dialogue <br /> Opened City wide application process twice to encourage students to apply for two Youth <br /> Commissioner positions. Human Rights Commission conducted interviews for five (5) applicants and <br /> recommended appointments to the City Council for two students to serve one (1) year terms on the <br /> Human Rights Commission. <br /> Annual Human Rights essay contest 2010 <br /> CHAIR'S STRATEGIC PLAN (GOALS AND OBJECTIVES) <br /> MEDIATION/REVIEW ROSEVILLE HUMAN RIGHTS COMPLAINTS: <br /> The Roseville Human Rights Commission has been and currently is at a disadvantage because the <br /> Commission has no data or report summaries on Human Rights complaints that have originated from <br /> the City of Roseville from at least the past five (5) years. The Human Rights Commission currently has <br /> no jurisdiction to review or resolve complaints. How educated are we if we are not informed? How <br /> effective are we if we are not involved? <br />
