<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE - HELD JUNE 23, 1980 <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* * <br /> <br />* * <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* * <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting <br />of the City Council of the City of Roseville, Ramsey County, Minnesota, <br />was duly held in the City Hall, 2660 Civic Center Drive, on the 23rd <br />day of June, 1980, at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Mayor Demos, <br />Councilmen Franke, Anderson and Kehr <br />and the following were absent: Councilman Curley <br /> <br />Member Kehr introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 6954 <br /> <br />WHE REAS, The Joi nt Powers Act, Mi nnesota Statutes 471.59, <br />permits cities to jointly and cooperatively exercise any powers <br />common to each, including those which are the same except for the <br />territorial limits in which they may be exercised; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the rules of the Minnesota Cable Communications <br />Board require certain steps and standards be included in the initial <br />franchising of cable communication; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Roseville is desirous of providing <br />cable communications service to the citizens of Roseville; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council recognizes that it is in the best <br />interest of the City to work with other cities in the region to <br />reduce duplication of effort, insure cost effectiveness and saving, <br />and to provide the best cable service to the citizens of the City; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of <br />the City of Roseville does hereby authorize participation in the <br />North Suburban Cable Commission and further authorizes the Mayor and <br />City Manager to sign the Joint and Cooperative Agreement establishing <br />the Commission for the purpose of providing an organization which can <br />coordinate for the parties to the Agreement an approach to the fran- <br />chising and regulatory process of cable service. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution <br />was duly seconded by Member Anderson and upon vote being taken <br />thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: All present <br /> <br />and the following voted against same: None <br /> <br />WHEREUPON, said resolution was declared duly passed and <br /> <br />adopted. <br />
