Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,June 20, 2011 <br /> Page 26 <br /> noticed of this proposal, noted that if nothing was developed, there would have <br /> been no additional tax monies available anyway. <br /> Councilmember Pust opined that affordable housing served as a direct benefit to <br /> the School District. <br /> Councilmember McGehee reiterated her position on the need or lack thereof for <br /> more affordable housing; and provided her research with the Ramsey County tax <br /> department earlier today; and opined that when affordable housing was provided <br /> it should be quality housing for families with children, and not stuck on a frontage <br /> road with no green space with the view of a major roadway; further opining that <br /> this was not what she had in mind for affordable housing. Councilmember <br /> McGehee opined that the location of this project was a terrible detriment, and in <br /> this housing market, the City Council should have directed Mr. Trudgeon to re- <br /> cruit another developer and/or another location. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: Johnson; Pust; Willmus; McGehee; and Roe. <br /> Nays: None. <br /> 13. Business Items—Presentations/Discussions <br /> a. Part II of the CIP Recommendation Report <br /> Councilmember Jeff Johnson provided a brief overview of the second part of the <br /> Capital Funding Plan and Preliminary Subcommittee Report dated June 20, 2011, <br /> as distributed as a bench handout, and attached hereto and made a part hereof <br /> 6ouncilmember Johnson, as spokesman for the Subcommittee, highlighted the <br /> recommendations detailed in the Report, as well as reviewing the recommenda- <br /> tions in Part I of the Report presented and discussed at the June 13, 2011 City <br /> Council meeting. After reviewing the recommendations, Councilmember John- <br /> son advised that it was the recommendation of the Subcommittee to refer the pro- <br /> posed rate changes to the Public Works, Environment, and Transportation Com- <br /> mission for their review and comment. <br /> A Memorandum dated June 20, 2011 from the CIP Subcommittee Report entitled, <br /> "Capital Funding Plan and Subcommittee Report—Appendices;" encapsulated the <br /> Subcommittee Report, and was provided as bench handouts, and attached hereto <br /> and made a part hereof, <br /> Councilmember McGehee questioned if Public Works Director Schwartz had <br /> been consulted; and whether he had verified the accuracy of the proposed rates <br /> and if those were applicable as referenced for water, sewer and storm water. <br />
