Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,July 11,2011 <br /> Page 21 <br /> Mr. Munson provided an update, including pictures, on this violation, consisting <br /> of a Redwood fence needing repair and outside storage of junk, debris, and brush <br /> (a violation of City Code, Sections 407.02J, 307.02D, and 407.03H); with abate- <br /> ment costs for building maintenance (repair Redwood fence); and removal of <br /> junk, debris and brush estimated at approximately $800.00. <br /> Mr. Munson advised that the owner had recently made much progress in resolving <br /> the violations, including repair and section replacement on the fence and removal <br /> of some of the debris. Mr. Munson advised that remaining items included dead <br /> tree stumps/logs; two (2) utility trailers on-site filled with debris and currently <br /> covered with tarps; as well as additional fence sections needing removal. There- <br /> fore, similar to the previous case, Mr. Munson recommended a delay until July <br /> 18, 2011 for performing the abatement; and a revised cost for the remaining items <br /> reduced to $500.00 <br /> Mr. Munson noted that the owner was present at tonight's meeting. <br /> Jesus Romero <br /> Mr. Romero advised that he owned the property with his broth; and noted that <br /> they had almost completed the nuisance items. Mr. Romero advised that both he <br /> and his brother were both so busy working jobs; and provided a status update on <br /> the trailers, one of which was broken and now had been repaired last weekend; <br /> and advised that it was their intent to complete the work. Mr. Romero noted that <br /> this had been a learning experience for them; and assured Councilmembers that <br /> they would be more diligent in the future in keeping up their property. <br /> Mayor Roe thanked Mr. Romero for his attendance and comments; and compli- <br /> mented he and his brother on the progress to-date; and the City's appreciation that <br /> they intended to complete the work. <br /> Councilmember Johnson, in an effort to ensure that Mr. Romero understood the <br /> process and the motion he proposed to pursue as a formality to ensure the work <br /> was completed to ensure that the high standards of the community were pre- <br /> served. Councilmember Johnson expressed his assurance that Mr. Romero would <br /> be true to his word; and thanked him for the work accomplished so far. <br /> Johnson moved, McGehee seconded, authorization to the Community Develop- <br /> ment staff to abate the remaining public nuisance violations at 397 Highway 36 <br /> West by hiring general contractors to complete any remaining violations on the <br /> site, including removal of dead tree stumps/logs; removal or relocation of two <br /> (2) utility trailers on site currently filled with debris and covered by tarps; and <br /> removal of additional fence sections; if not completed by the property owner by <br /> July 18, 2011; with abatement costs estimated at approximately $500.00; with ac <br />
