itt <br /> EN HILLS <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2023-012 <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING NO MOW MAY <br /> WHEREAS, pollinator populations are threatened due to many factors, including habitat <br /> loss and pesticide use; and <br /> WHEREAS, pollinators serve a necessary role as pollinators of many plants, including <br /> agricultural plants such as many fruits, vegetables, and nuts; and <br /> WHEREAS, early season food sources are necessary for pollinators; and <br /> WHEREAS,reducing the amount of mowing during the early growing season can increase <br /> available floral resources for forage; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Arden Hills encourages the use of pollinator friendly lawn care <br /> practices; and <br /> WHEREAS, No Mow May is an initiative that encourages property owners to limit lawn <br /> mowing during the month of May. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arden <br /> Hills, Minnesota, recognizes No Mow May to create additional early season food and habitat for <br /> pollinators and other insect species in lawns and encourages property owners to refrain from <br /> mowing during the month of May. The enforcement of City Code Chapter 6 relating to Nuisances <br /> and Offenses shall temporarily be suspended from May 1 st to May 31" for residences and <br /> businesses, permitting all property owners who wish to participate in this initiative to voluntarily <br /> delay mowing until June, which may result in lawn height exceeding the established ordinance of <br /> eight inches. Properties will have until June 10"' to bring their property back into conformance <br /> with City Code.
