Motion carr ed unanimously. <br /> <br />BUSINESS FROM THE FLO<)R <br /> <br />Mr. Oliver Kronholm, Business Adainlstrator, Minnesota Baptist Confer- <br />ence, expressed appre~iation for Village services rendered to Minnesota <br />Baptist Conference, alld tendered a check to the City as a token of gr"ati- <br />tu de. <br /> <br />Mayor Crepeau accepted the donation and thanked Mr. Kronholm, on be- <br />half of the City of Ai'den Hi 115. <br /> <br />REPORT OF VILLAGE PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR JOHN BUCKLEY <br /> <br />Status Report on Park Site Impro~ern~~ <br />Buckley reviewed his memo of 8-25':75, re status of development of Inger- <br />son, Freeway and Perry Parks; advising th"athe has received three quo"tes <br />to move the light poles at P~rry Park to the new hockey rink location - <br />lowest bid is $1900. Buckley said an alternate to moving the poles, <br />would be to leave the existing poles where they are, and Instal I 30' <br />steel poles (using the existing lignt fixtures); steel poles would be <br />instal lad on concrete pedestals at an additIonal $350 cost. <br /> <br />Buckley recommended the installation of the 30' steel poles, stating <br />that the existIng wooden poles may be needed In the future lighting <br />plans of that portion of the park - no plans at the present, or possibly <br />in next 5 years, to light this upper portion of the park. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />After discussion, Courci I authorized Buckley to cut existing wooden poles <br />to t~e desired 3D' height, and to move them to the new location, as per <br />pian. Buckley estimated that poles would be moved within it months. <br /> <br />In discussion of the tree planting program, Buckley recommended that <br />the $750 balance, budgeted for tree planting this year, be used to plant <br />largsr trees (from Bethel College) at Perry and Freeway Parks (renting <br />tree spade from Rosevl lie). Buckley explained that originally this money <br />was Intended for the purchase and planting of about 1000 seedlings <br />(30~-40~ each), but It is too lata to piant seedlings this year - could <br />purchase the seedlIngs now for planting next spring. <br /> <br />Councl I authorized Buckley to proceed with the planting of frees that <br />he feels appropriate at this time, as long as total Parks Budget this <br />year wi IJ not be exceeded. <br /> <br />Tree Inspector <br />Buckley reviewed his ~emo of 8-25-75 re extension of employment of Tree <br />Inspector Mike Sllnde. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Crichton moved, seconded by Woodburn, that Councl I approve the extension <br />for employment of Tree Inspector Mike Sllnde to September 15, 1975. <br />Motion carried unanlmcusly. <br /> <br />Proposed Highway .~partment Letter <br />Buckley referred Council to draft o~ proposed letter to Highway Depact- <br />ment re roadway landscaping. <br /> <br />Aftar discussion, Crichton moved, seconded by Feyeraisen, th~t CouncIl <br /> <br />-1- <br />
