<br />l <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA <br />WORKSESSION CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JUNE 15, 1993 <br />4:30 p.m. - CITY HALL <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDERIROLL CALL <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Acting Mayor Hicks called to order the <br />Worksession City Council meeting at 4:35 p.m. Present: Acting Mayor Hicks, <br />Councilmembers Paul Malone, Beverly Aplikowski and Dennis Probst. Also present <br />were: City Administrator Dorothy Person; City Accountant Terry Post; Public Works <br />Superintendent Dan Winkel, Building Official David Kriesel, City Engineer Terry <br />Maurer, Bill Chapman and Recording Secretary Renee' Kaulfuss. <br /> <br />AGENDA ADOPTION <br /> <br />MOTION: Malone moved, seconded by Aplikowski, to adopt the revised June 15, <br />1993 worksession agenda. Motion carried unanimously (4-0). <br /> <br />Stratelrlc Plannine Update - Set 1994 Budeet Goals <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />City Administrator updated the Council and Staff on the major budget impacts and <br />stated the budget process is on target. She suggested that all departments breakdown <br />their budget request needs into the correct funds. Council reviewed departmental <br />suggestions of budget changes and indicated Council's primary concurrence with <br />Department Head goals and with budget changes including: <br /> <br />Discussion followed regarding the Public Works major budget impacts. Council <br />requested an update of a 5-10 year plan for street improvements, and basic street <br />information and long term planning. <br /> <br />Discussion followed regarding implementation of a new meter reading procedure. The <br />Public Works 1994 plan includes a synopsis of water meter needs, computer needs and <br />costs and other related time spent on the meter process. <br /> <br />Ms. Person requested Council and Staff to have budget information to her by early July <br />with the final review to be completed by August 30. <br /> <br />Update of desien plan for City Hall - Jeff Oertel <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Jeff Oertel indicated that he had previously met with all Department Heads and <br />presented to Councilmembers the issues and concerns addressed by the department <br />heads. In addition, since the proposal in 1992 was presented, there has been a change in <br />Councilmembers. The key areas discussed were: whether the Community Room is <br />sufficient (accommodates 80 people); small conference room in the office area; <br />additional storage area in the office area; possibly down sizing kitchen area; open <br />question of whether the Park & Rec Director and Program SupeIVisor offices be located <br />in City Hall or in the Public Works facility; cost items that may be reviewed is the patio <br />area and sky lights important or should the funds for these items be used to <br />accommodate additional working space. <br />
