<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 242 <br /> <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 19-48(a) <br /> OF THE ARDEN HILLS CODE TO DELETE <br /> CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS DAY AS A HOLIDAY AND <br /> TO ADD THE FRIDAY FOLLOWING THANKSGIVING <br /> AS A HOLIDAY <br /> <br /> The City Council of the City of Arden Hills ordains: <br /> 1. Amendment to Section 19-48(a) of Arden Hills Code <br /> Relating to Holidays. Section 19-48(a) of the Arden Hills Code, <br /> entitled "Holidays", is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "(a) The fQllowing shall be official holidays <br /> for all employees of the city subject to the _ <br /> provisions of this chapter: <br /> (1) New Year's Day, January 1; <br /> (2) Washington's and Lincoln's Birthday, the <br /> third Monday in February; <br /> (3) Memorial Day, the last Monday in May; <br /> • (4) Independence Day, July 4; <br /> (5) Labor Day, the first Monday in September; <br /> (6) Veteran's Day, November 11; <br /> (7) Thanksgiving Day, the fourth Thursday in <br /> November; <br /> (8) The Friday following Thanksgiving Day, the <br /> fourth Friday in November; and <br /> (9) Christmas Day, December 25. <br /> Provided, when any such holiday shall fall on <br /> Sunday, the following day shall be a holiday, and <br /> when such holiday shall fall on Saturday, the <br /> preceding day shall be a holiday. In addition to <br /> the foregoing holidays, all employees shall be <br /> required to work only one-half (1/2) of the last <br /> working days before the Christmas and New Year's <br /> holidays which half days shall likewise be deemed <br /> holidays. Employees shall observe the days and <br /> half days herein designated as official holidays <br /> and receive compensation as though they had worked <br />
