Res. #11-
A RESOLUTION DIRECTING A CHANGE IN TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES
WHEREAS, the City of Centerville previously installed STOP signs on east -bound
Peltier Lake Drive at Centerville Road and at Mill Road, and
WHEREAS, the normal criteria for determining if a STOP sign would be the best and
most appropriate measure of traffic control, include the following:
• Is this an intersection of a minor road with a main road where application of the
normal right -of -way rule (e.g. yield to the right) is unduly hazardous?
• Is this an intersection where a street enters an arterial (major) street?
• Is this an intersection where a combination of speed, restricted view and reported
accident history indicates a need for control by the stop sign?
WHEREAS, the Public Works Director has reviewed the criteria and offered his
recommendation that neither of the locations meet any of the criteria for installing a stop
sign and further recommends their removal.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
CENTERVILLE, MINNESOTA:
The Council directs that the STOP signs at east -bound Peltier Lake Drive at Centerville
Road and at Mill Road should be removed.
Adopted by the City Council this 14th day of September, 2011.
Tom Wilharber, Mayor
Attest:
Teresa Bender, Clerk
