RES. #12 -001 <br /> A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN ONLINE TICKET EDUCATION SYSTEM <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Centerville participates in a Joint Powers Agreement with the cities of Circle Pines and <br /> Lexington which created the Centennial Lakes Police Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Centennial Lakes Police Department uses education as a means to promote public safety; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department would like to use emerging technology to educate offenders on an individual <br /> basis; and <br /> WHEREAS, the prosecutor for the cities of Centerville and Lexington has developed and tested an on -line <br /> ticket education system through his subsidiary, Municipal Legal Services to provide public safety education to <br /> offenders on an individualized basis; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Governing Board of Centennial Lakes Police Department supports implementing the <br /> alternative ticket education system, subject to policies and procedures that are attached hereto as Exhibit A. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY of <br /> CENTERVILLE, MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> 1. The Council hereby approves implementing the ticket education system as proposed by the Centennial <br /> Lakes Police Department Governing Board. <br /> 2. The Council hereby approves the policies attached hereto as Exhibit A. <br /> 3. The Council hereby authorizes the Governing Board to enter into an agreement with Municipal Legal <br /> Services for operation of the ticket education system, subject to the approval of the City administrator <br /> and City Attorney. <br /> 4.
