<br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br />October 12, 2016 <br />6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held their regularly scheduled <br />meeting of October 12, 2016 at City Hall, 1880 Main Street. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br /> Mayor Tom Wilharber <br />Council Member Jeff Paar <br /> Council Member Steve King <br />Council Member Ben Fehrenbacher <br /> <br /> Council Member D. Love <br /> <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> City Engineer Mark Statz <br /> <br />STAFF: <br /> City Administrator Mike Ericson <br /> City Attorney Kurt Glaser <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> <br />III. APPOINTMENTS/PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br /> <br />1.Centennial Lakes Police Department, Chief Coan – 2015 Annual Report <br /> <br />Chief Coan apologized for the delay in the presentation and stated that with the new Anoka <br />County computer software, obtaining information was difficult. He stated that he felt that the <br />coming years would provide the information readily. He also stated that the department has <br />adopted the “Six Pillars of Policing” policy like many other agencies. The pillars include <br />building trust and legitimacy, policy and oversight, technology and social media, community <br />policing and crime reduction, officer training and education and officer safety and wellness. He <br />believes that the policy has made strides in the department and will continue to be very <br />successful. <br /> <br />Chief Coan reported that the first ever Citizen Public Safety Academy has begun with six people <br />from the three cities. He stated that it included simulated traffic stops, suiting up in fire turnout <br />gear, use of the “jaws of life”, and laser shooter training assisting individuals with making split- <br />second decisions similar to real police situations. He reported that next year they would involve <br />elected/appointed officials to participate. <br /> <br />Chief Coan also reported that an arrest has been made in connection with the CenterMart robbery <br />and CLPD is still accepting leads regarding the other robberies in town.
