Many members of this core committee were Uon members and were able to brin& their knowledge and experience of prevl- ous FDL to the table. CentenIIIe resident. Ray DeVIne. toOk the lead by sending out notices of upcoming FDL meet- inpandre- views of past meetings and soon found himself coor- dinating this I year's Fete des Lacs. lbroughout the past year. the FDL Comndaee had ..... people helping. as few"as twelve and as the festival ap- proached up to forty voIuntee's assisted with the event. The owr-all thou&ht that was In the minds of those who were Involved was Icnowin& that their efforts would result In long Iasdna memories. Afw' FDL was over. Ray had some time to sit and relax and reflect upon the event. He was extremely pleased with the results. In that the expeaations of the festival were met and the expeaa- dons of the parade were exceeded. 'He appreciated all of those who contributed In the success of FDL especially The City of CentervIIIe's PublIc Works Depan- ment who was InstrurnemaI with many areas of the festival. and Rivard ElectrIc: who spent many hours making special eIearIc:aI cords to meet the State Bee- tric:aI Inspectors requirements. Rogers Brothers Funland who presented the carnival was a special acIcIItIon to this year's FDL They brought In a portion of their rides and vendors. They were a very professional group of people to work with and provided the extra color and exdternent for the festival. Fete des Lacs Is not just a three day event. PrIor to and during the festival. new friends were met. neighbors met neighbors for the first dine. and Ideas were ... ated for Involvement for FDL 2001. Plans have already begun pr eparIng for .FDL 2001 and as always. volunteers are needed to help produce a biaer and better Fete des lacs for next year!
