Hello-
1 sent all of you an email expressing my concerns regarding the proposed installation of a Ports-
potty at Corner Stone Park to accommodate visitors who come to the Bald Eagle Weiser Ski
show on Thursday evenings, My purpose is riot to complain about the water ski show, but to
find a better solution to the placement of a porta-potty than the proposed location, The porte-
a-potty scenario was the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back" when dealing with over
a hundred visitors in front of my home each week.
Of course, my main concern is personal; I don't want to look at a port-a-potty, smell :: port-a-
potty, or deal with increased foot, bike, & car traffic in front of my home.
More importantly for the community, Corner Stone Park should be considered the main focal
point of our town moving forward. A huge handicapped accessible porta-potty next to the
benches in the park is not appealing under any circumstances.
I don't know if you are aware of how many people sit for a while in this park. There are visitors
all day long. I don't think too many people will want to sit directly next to a port-a-potty, There
is not enough room in the park to accommodate visitors and a huge handicapped acceptable
port-a-potty.
I foresee issues with people in cars stopping to use the port-a-potty at what is already a very
0
busy and very dangerous intersection and curve for both drivers and pedestrians,
I am also concerned about bikers, especially kids, dropping bikes in the middle of the path to
use the facilities.
Vandalism'. by both kids and late night patrons of the bars is concerning.
The past history ofthe poor maintenance of these facilities, as well as the increased cost, is
concerning, In other areas of town, the facilities have not been well attended to. They are also
located at a distance from the homes. In Cornerstone Park the facilities will be in the midst of
several homes. When we purchased our home we didn't sign on for viewing and smelling
public toilet facilities, even on a seasonal basis.
My best proposal is to place the facility in the corner of the school parking lot. This will
encourage people to park there and not in front of the church, There will be no concern
regarding increased traffic, and it will be easily accessible to many more community members,
The school already has a port a potty on the ball fields so an additional facility, maintained by
the city, not the school, should not be a new item of concern.
A secondary option could be to look at placing it somewhere along the bike path, perhaps near
the vacant city block to the south of the church,
