~,U n <br />The City Council of Centerville, met in special session on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, <br />at 6:23 p.m. in City Hall. Present were Mayor Mary Capra, Council members Linda <br />Broussard Vickers, Michelle Lakso, and Tom Lee. Absent was Council member Jeff <br />Paar. Also present were City Attorney Kurt Glaser, Engineer Mark Statz and <br />Administrator Dallas Larson. <br />The purpose of the meeting was to consider the 2009 Street Improvement project <br />assessments. <br />Mayor Capra asked whether there were any property owners that had provided additional <br />information to be considered relating to their special assessments. City Attorney Glaser <br />has had extensive conversations with property owners over the last several days and none <br />of the owners have had an appraisal done, nor provided any new information that would <br />cast doubt on the amount of the special assessment adopted by the City. <br />A motion was made by Council member Lee that the Council go into closed session to <br />meet with the attorney to consider possible litigation relating to special assessment <br />appeals. The motion was seconded by Council member Fehrenbacher, all present voted <br />in favor. The motion passed (4-0). <br />The meeting was closed at 6:23 <br />City Attorney Glaser reviewed the discussions that he has had with property owners <br />regarding special assessments. <br />The meeting was recessed at 6:55 p.m. in order to begin the regular council meeting. <br />The meeting was reconvened at 8:00 p.m. <br />The council discussed possible outcomes of the special assessment appeals and their <br />potential impacts on the street project. <br />The meeting was reopened at 8:46. <br />Mayor Capra reported that the only business considered during the closed session was the <br />discussion with the City Attorney regarding possible litigation that may result from the <br />adoption of special assessments for the 2009 Street Improvement Project <br />A motion was made by Council member Broussard Vickers that the meeting be <br />adjourned. Motion seconded by Council member Fehrenbacher, all present voted in <br />favor. Motion passed (4-0). <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:46 p.m. <br />
