CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 8, 2009 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held its regularly scheduled meeting <br />on April 8, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Mayor Mary Capra <br />Council Member Linda Broussard Vickers <br />Council Member Tom Lee <br />Council Member Ben Fehrenbacher O~~ 0 <br />Council Member Jeff Paar ~ ~ O <br />aaa <br />STAFF: City Administrator Dallas Larson <br />City Attorney Kurt Glaser <br />City Engineer Mark Statz <br />L CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Capra called the April 8, 2009, City Council Meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br />IL CITY OF CENTERVILLE BOARD OF APPEAL & EQUALIZATION PUBLIC <br />HEARING <br />Mr. Ken Tolzmann, City Assessor <br />Mr. Tolzmann appeared to answer questions. He stated that this is the beginning of the <br />property tax cycle, and everything would be put together by November. He added that his <br />job is to be an advocate on behalf of the taxpayers and to uphold the tax laws of the State <br />of Minnesota. <br />Mr. Tolzmann explained that the current market value is based on home sales from <br />October 2007 through September 2008. The purchase of foreclosed property would not be <br />included in that number. <br />Mr. David Hafferman, 7360 Peltier Circle <br />Mr. Hafferman stated that he purchased his home for $390,000 and that it is now assessed <br />for $449,300. He stated that he talked to Mr. Tolzmann in February about his 2010 <br />property value. He explained that he compared all the houses on the inside of the circle to <br />those on the outside. He discounted lots on the inside because those lots were definitely <br />less valuable than the outside lots. The outside lots have a view of Peltier Lake or back up <br />to trees. <br />Page 1 of 7 <br />
