ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF MEETING OF MARCH 6, 2012 <br /> ROSEVILLE CITY HALL—6:30PM <br /> PRESENT: Boehm, Diedrick, Doneen, Etten, D. Holt, M. Holt, Pederson, Ristow <br /> ABSENT: Azer and Simbeck contacted staff with excused absence <br /> STAFF: Anfang, Brokke <br /> 1. INTRODUCTIONS/ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> None <br /> 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES—FEBRUARY 9, 2012 MEETING <br /> Commission Recommendation: <br /> Minutes for the February 9, 2012 meeting were approved unanimously. <br /> 3. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TASK FORCE REPORT <br /> Doneen updated commission on the current work of the Community Engagement Task Force. Draft <br /> recommendations by subcommittees are being compiled. Preliminary findings have been shared <br /> with the City Manager with a meeting in the near future to discuss materials with the City Manager <br /> planned for the near fi ture. It is anticipated that recommendations to the City Council will come <br /> this spring through the Human Rights Commission. <br /> Doneen commented on how the Parks and Recreation Master Plan has served as an excellent model <br /> for supporting neighborhoods and fostering community involvement. <br /> 4. PARK & RECREATION RENEWAL PROGRAM DISCUSSION <br /> Jason Etten introduced the agenda item and spoke briefly about the first three meetings and updated <br /> the commission that there has been no new information on the current litigation status. <br /> Brokke updated the Commission on the recent HANC community and neighborhood meeting. <br /> Specifically, a community and neighborhood meeting was held February 15 at the Harriett <br /> Alexander Nature Center to discuss plans for facility maintenance and boardwalk replacement. <br /> More than 40 people were in attendance. The group was enthusiastic and anxious to get started with <br /> the projects. Staff also shared the preliminary work of FORHANC and FORPARKS and their <br /> intentions to contribute $30,000 each to internal improvements to the Center. Doneen recognized <br /> the high level of interest by those in attendance. <br /> Brokke reviewed a recent meeting with the Public Works, Environment and Transportation <br /> Commission. This group was very interested in the Renewal Program and asked how they might be <br /> able to get involved, especially in the Natural Resources and Trails portion. Randall Doneen also <br /> attended the meeting to share information on the work to date of the Natural Resources and Trails <br /> Workgroup. <br /> • Brokke mentioned interest in holding a joint meeting between the parks and recreation <br /> commission and the public works, environmental and transportation commission in the <br /> future to discuss the renewal program. <br /> • It was also suggested that there may be a"pilot' project for the Natural Resources <br /> Workgroup to help maintain the connection from the implementation program and assist <br /> with recently applied for grant projects. <br />
