Holt, Doneen, Gelbach, Newby, Stoner <br />ABSENT: <br /> Azer, Bogenholm, Diedrick, Wall, all notified staff about being unable to attend <br />STAFF: <br /> Anfang, Brokke <br /> <br /> <br /> INTRODUCTIONS <br />1. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />2. <br />No Public comment at the start of meeting. Individuals in attendance reserved their comments for <br />later in the meeting. <br /> <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES – NOVEMBER 6, 2014 MEETING <br />3. <br /> <br />November 6, 2014 minutes passed unanimously. <br /> <br /> ACKNOWLEDGE NOTES – DECEMBER 2, 2014 MEETING <br />4. <br />December 2, 2014 Commission Meeting proceedings were recorded as notes due to not having a <br />quorum at the meeting. <br /> <br /> DEER POPULATION DISCUSSION <br />5. <br />Ten residents were in attendance for the deer population discussion. <br /> <br />Brokke summarized the information in the packet. <br /> <br /> <br />The decision to control wildlife is up to the individual communities in Ramsey County. <br /> <br /> <br />In 2014, 61 deer were counted in Roseville. <br /> <br /> <br />The deer count took place in a .77 square mile area designated as deer habitat by Ramsey <br />County. <br /> <br />Community member comments followed Brokke’s report; <br /> <br /> <br />Comments varied between those being in favor and those not being in favor of a deer <br />management program. <br /> <br /> <br />First comment voiced their lack of faith in deer count and the numbers– wondered about the <br />possibility of counting deer more than once. <br /> <br /> <br />A number of attendees spoke to the problem of feeding deer, specifically near Chatsworth. <br />Neighbors feeding in this area have contributed to deer/vehicular concerns. <br /> <br /> <br />Residents near Ladyslipper Park have come close to hitting deer on the roads due to deer <br />trying to get to neighborhood feeding stations. <br /> <br />Many in attendance asked the Commission to suggest to the Council that an ordinance <br />o <br />be implemented to ban wildlife feeding in Roseville. <br /> <br /> <br />Community members commented on how the deer population has grown and the local habitat <br />has decreased, resulting in deer eating gardens and plantings. <br /> <br /> <br />Community members also recognized the potential health issues such as a deer tick problem <br />due to the significant presence of deer in Roseville. <br /> <br /> <br />
