Most of Roseville is identified in the
24 infestation zone.


25 Commissioners inquired into the potential impact of EAB, staff responded that EAB will
26 eventually impact the entire U.S.
27
28 Goals of the Roseville EAB Program:


29 Monitor & evaluate suspect trees


30 Remove & replace positive EAB trees


31 Treat significant trees


32 Plant a more diverse & resilient forest


33 Identify & utilize available resources

34 Currently Roseville is working with a $125,000 DNR grant to address EAB needs.
o
35 This grant also involves $125,000 in City funds as a matching contribution.
36

37 EAB is a difficult pest to identify. Roseville is probably about midway into its EAB infestation.
38 Roseville has 2146 Public Ash trees (this number does not include Ash trees located in local wooded
39 areas).


40 Commissioner Becker-Finn recommended educating the public on recognizing Ash trees and
41 signs of EAB.
42

43 Twaroski presented the current tree distribution plan. Ten species have been identified for inclusion
44 in the plan. The tree planting map has been developed using the constellation system. Each
45 constellation has a specific planting map that provides a varied and diverse forest. The end goal with
46 the city-wide tree distribution plan is to have no ash trees in the City.


47 Commissioner Doneen suggested creating an annual plan/goal for removing/replacing trees.
48

49 Commissioner comments suggested the Council is not addressing the need to plan for the full EAB
50 crisis.


51 It would cost Roseville $1.6M to remove & replace the community forest affected by EAB.


52 Commission Chair Stoner commented that the Commission needs to work harder to keep the
53 Council informed & it is important to keep this issue on their radar.
54
55

56

57
