<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1212 <br /> <br />ANORDmANCEAMENmNG <br />SECTION 1004.01(G) OF THE ROSEVILLE CITY CODE <br />REGARDING HOME OCCUPA TIONS <br /> <br />THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE DOES ORDAIN: <br /> <br />Section 1. Purpose. The purpose of this Ordinance is to update and <br />clarify the City's regulations regarding home occupations and home-based <br />business. The intent amendments address the current needs of home-based <br />businesses, while protecting the community's residential areas from <br />inappropriate commercial uses. <br /> <br />Section 2. Findings. In considering the amendments, the City Council <br />made the following findings: <br /> <br />1. Technological changes have allowed more people to work from <br />home through telecommuting. In addition, these changes have <br />also facilitated the proliferation of home-based businesses and <br />home occupations. <br /> <br />2. It is anticipated that the number of people working at home at least <br />some of the time continues to rise. <br /> <br />3. While it is important to provide an opportunity for home <br />occupations, it is also the City's responsibility to ensure that such <br />home occupations will not have an adverse impact on the character <br />and livability of the residential areas of the community. <br /> <br />Section 3. Amendments. Section 1004.01(G) of the Roseville City <br />Code is hereby amended as follows: <br /> <br />1004.01: GENERAL REQUIREMENTS IN ALL RESIDENCE DISTRICTS <br /> <br />G. Home Occupations: <br /> <br />1. Purpose: The purpose of the home occupation regulations is to provide <br />an opportunity for home occupations, while ensuring that such home <br />occupations do not have an adverse impact on the character and livability <br />of the surrounding neighborhood. The home occupation regulations also <br />ensure that the home occupation is secondary and subordinate to the <br />principal residential use of the property. <br /> <br />2.
