<br /> ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES FOR <br />March 5, 2020 6:30 p.m. <br />PRESENT:Arneson, Baggenstoss,Brown,Dahlstrom, Carlson,Hoag, O’Brien, Stoner <br />ABSENT:Heikkila, Kim, Newby <br />STAFF: Brokke <br /> <br />1) INTRODUCTIONS <br /> <br />2) ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Commissioner Heikkila and Youth Commissioner Kim notified staff that they would not be in <br />attendance. <br /> <br />3) APPROVAL OF MINUTES – FEBRUARY 4, 2020 MEETING <br />Commissioner O’Brien moved to approve the minutes. Vice-Chair Hoag seconded. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />4) FORESTRY TASK FORCE DISCUSSION <br />Vice-Chair Hoag relayed that the second and most likely final meeting was completed by the <br />Forestry Task Force. During that meeting the Forestry Task Force continued their review of City <br />Code 706.03. Also, Vice-Chair Hoag noted that it became apparent that the objective of the Forestry <br />Task Force was to discuss how forestry plays into environmental sustainability and if the Parks and <br />Recreation Commission is the correct home for the Tree Board. Vice-Chair Hoag noted that the tree <br />preservation policy was not reviewed by the Task Force. <br /> <br />A list of three potential recommendations that the Forestry Task Force will give to the City Council <br />was handed out to the Commission for review and comments. <br />Commissioner Dahlstrom added that a member of the Public Works Environment and Transportation <br />Commission(PWETC)hadpreviouslyrecommendedthe creation of anEnvironmental Commission <br />tothe City Council. As a result, the ForestryTask Force wassuggested by the City Council to <br />explore further recommendations. <br /> <br />The Commission discussed the next steps for the Forestry Task Force and gained further clarification <br />on the three recommendations. Staff confirmed that the PWETC would be presenting the <br />recommendations to the City Council in thecoming weeks. Staff will notify the Commission when <br />this item has been added to a City Council agenda. <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
