Background Information/Introductions <br />Mayor Klausing called to order a special meeting of the Roseville City Council at ap- <br />proximately 6:00 p.m., for the purposes of meeting jointly with the Roseville Area School <br />Board to discuss areas and issues of mutual interest. <br />Mayor Klausing welcomed everyone and provided brief opening remarks. <br />Board Chair Kitty Gogins also welcomed everyone and provided brief opening remarks. <br />Introductions were provided of School Board and City Council members present. Mayor <br />Klausing noted that Councilmember Willmus had advised that he would be unable to at- <br />tend tonight's meeting. <br />City of Roseville City Council members present: Klausing, Ihlan, Roe; with Council- <br />member Pust arriving shortly after the meeting began. <br />Roseville Area School Board members present: Chair Kitty Gogins; Treasurer Tom <br />Ring; Clerk William J. Majerus; and Directors Lisa Edstrom, Shari Dion and Frank <br />Shaw. <br />City Manager Bill Malinen; I.S.D. 623 School Superintendent John Thein; as well as sev- <br />eral members of the City's staff and the School District were also in attendance. <br />a. Imagine Roseville 2025 <br />City Manager Bill Malinen noted that he and Superintendent John Thein had met <br />prior to tonight's meeting to review the Imagine Roseville 2025 Final Report, and <br />had highlighted some items of mutual interest to initiate discussion on potential <br />opportunities for collaboration between the School District and the City. <br />Director Lisa Edstrom noted those items highlighted on page 6 of the final report <br />and related to a sense of community and embracing diversity (i.e., Goal: Roseville <br />having a strong and inclusive sense of community); and later specifically address- <br />ing the educational aspects of that goal. Ms. Edstrom noted, in her previous ser- <br />vice on the Imagine Steering Committee, their discussions regarding lifelong <br />learning; and summarized other discussion points of the Health, Education and <br />Community Subcommittee to the Steering Committee.
