EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING <br />OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City <br />of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly held on the 13th day of April, <br />2009, at 6:00 p.m. <br />The following members were present: Ihlan, Roe, Pust, Johnson and Klausing <br />and the following were absent: none. <br />Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION No. 10700 <br />April is Jazz Appreciation Month <br />WHEREAS, Jazz is an American original art form that affirms the noblest aspirations <br />of our national character, individual discipline, perseverance and <br />innovation; and <br />WHEREAS, Jazz has produced some of America's leading creative artists and ranks as <br />one of America's greatest exports to the world; and <br />WHEREAS, Jazz has inspired dancers, choreographers, poets, novelists, filmmakers, <br />classical composers and musicians in many other kinds of music; and <br />WHEREAS, Arts education and appreciation for the contributions of all American art <br />forms is fundamental to the people of the City of Roseville; and <br />WHEREAS, America's jazz heritage deserves to be appreciated broadly and be a part <br />of education for America's youth and adults; and <br />WHEREAS, Jazz has spoken eloquently of freedom for people in the United States and <br />abroad and has become an international language that bridges differences <br />and brings people of all races, ages and backgrounds together; and <br />WHEREAS, We honor and recognize the outstanding work that all jazz artists, <br />educators and enthusiasts in the City or Roseville represent. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Roseville hereby resolve that <br />April is Jazz Appreciation Month in the City of Roseville, Minnesota. <br />
