City of <br />lei <br />Minnesota, USA <br />Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 14, 2007 <br />Present: Chair Janet Delmore; Commissioners Bob Venters; Pam Bosch; Thelma <br />McKenzie; and Marie Oftelie. Commissioner Philip Crump arrived shortly after <br />the meeting was called to order. <br />Absent: Commissioner Tam McGehee. <br />Others Present: City Councilmember Dan Roe; City Manager Bill Malinen; and Recording <br />Secretary Sheila Stowell. <br />Call to Order: Chair Delmore called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Commissioner Bosch moved and Commissioner Delmore seconded approval of the June 14, <br />2007 meeting minutes as presented. <br />Motion carried 3/0, with Commissioners McKenzie and Venters abstaining. <br />Diversity Program <br />Discussion included an update by Commissioner Bosch on potential implementation of diversity <br />programs and available forums. Commissioner McKenzie summarizing grant programs available <br />to the City specifically for the purpose of integrating into the community and allowing Roseville <br />to serve as a catalyst for bringing about change, endorsement and promotion of the "Facing <br />Race" program by members of the City Council and possible initial use of the program for <br />Roseville City employees, and scheduling strategic planning for the September HRC meeting. <br />Set Date for September Meeting <br />Commissioners discussed changing the September 11 meeting to facilitate the Primary Election <br />day and hours of poll openings. After discussion, Commissioners agreed to meet on September <br />11 but to move the meeting time from 7:00 p.m. to 8:01 p.m. Staff would advise which room was <br />available at City Hall to hold the meeting. <br />Roseville Police Department Feedback Form <br />Chair Delmore noted previous discussions with City Manager Bill Malinen on a generic <br />feedback form. <br />City Manager Malinen had included a copy of the form used by the City's Police Department <br />and the process for commendations or complaints. Mr. Malinen expressed attempts to avoid <br />negative connotations and further noted a new tool via updates to the City's website and public <br />links for all City staff <br />
