Il�)EN�HILLS <br />Draft <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br />TUESDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2010 <br />ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL <br />CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br />Chair Peck called the December 21, 2010, meeting of the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee to <br />order at 6:35 p.m. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair John Peck, Committee Members Harold Petersen, Steve Scott, Rich <br />Straumann, and Cindy Garretson. <br />Committee Member Nancy O'Malley arrived at 6:45 p.m. <br />OTHERS PRESENT: Park and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson, Public Works Director Terry <br />Maurer and Council Liaison David Grant. <br />MEMBERS NOT PRESENT/EXCUSED: <br />1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Committee Member Scott indicated that 4.B should be corrected to read Goal Setting /Work Plan for <br />2011 instead of 2010. <br />MOTION: Committee Member Straumann motioned and Committee Member Petersen seconded <br />a motion to approve the agenda as amended. The motion carried unanimously. <br />2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES November 16, 2010 <br />Committee Member Petersen asked that the word "would" be added to the 2 sentence of the 2 to <br />last paragraph on page 2, so that the sentence reads "recommendation on what it would be used for." <br />MOTION: Committee Member Peterson motioned to approve the November 16, 2010 minutes <br />seconded by Committee Member Garretson. The motion carried unanimously. <br />3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Valentine Park Drainage Study <br />Public Works Director Maurer recapped that back in February of 2009 the City had a <br />study done by WSB. The Council asked in 2010 that a second opinion be done and <br />Bolton and Menk was chosen to review WSB's report regarding the Valentine Park <br />drainage. The letter from Bolton and Menk is included in the packet. Mr. Maurer <br />indicated he had a survey done to determine the lowest opening on the homes adjacent to <br />the park and reviewed the findings from BMI. He stated that the elevation of the culvert <br />controls the high water level of the lake and the ditches in between control the time it <br />takes for the water to drain. He indicated the highest level recorded was 881.1 in 1978 <br />
