ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—January 10, 2011 14 <br /> 9. Council Comments and Staff Updates (continued) <br /> Councilmember Holmes stated she had attended a reception for Catholic United Financial, which <br /> was formerly Catholic Aid Association. <br /> Mayor Grant reminded the Council there were interviews scheduled for the open Council <br /> position on Tuesday, January 11, and on Wednesday, January 19. <br /> Mayor Grant asked if the clock in the Chambers was an atomic clock. <br /> Parks and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson stated the clock in the Council Chambers was <br /> an atomic clock but it also ran on batteries. If the batteries wear down then the clock will slow as <br /> well. <br /> Councilmember Holden suggested a clock be hard wired in the Council Chambers. <br /> Mayor Grant stated the Council would be reviewing a request from McDonald's to reconstruct <br /> their facility. He stated there was a similar building constructed in New Brighton and he <br /> suggested the Council go and look at the building in order to understand the type of building they <br /> are requesting. <br /> City Administrator Klaers stated the City was conducting interviews on Wednesday, January <br /> 19. He asked if the Council would be available to meet with Representative Kate Knuth and <br /> Senator Barb Goodwin prior to the interviews. <br /> Councilmember Werner stated he would be available at 6:00 on January 19. <br /> Councilmember Holmes stated she had a prior commitment but would work something out in <br /> order to meet with Representative Knuth and Senator Goodwin. She stated this would be a good <br /> opportunity to talk with them about the 1-694/TH 51 Project. <br /> Councilmember Holden stated she would be able to attend this meeting. <br /> Mayor Grant stated he would be able to attend as well. <br /> City Administrator Klaers stated Government Training Services would be utilizing the <br /> downstairs facility at City Hall for two days in May and the City will be waiving the fee for this <br /> event. <br /> Councilmember Holmes stated she would like to discuss fees at an upcoming work session. She <br /> stated she does not agree with waiving the fee in this particular situation but still charging <br /> residents to utilize the City's parks. <br /> Mayor Grant stated he had received an e-mail regarding water rates and that the City's <br /> minimums were too high. He stated the City should look at this information for 2011. <br />
