The regular meeting of the Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Commission was <br />called to order by Chair Pederson at 6:00 p.m., at Ramsey County Parks and <br />Recreation Department, 2015 North Van Dyke Street, Maplewood, Minnesota. <br />Members Present: Jack Ditmore, Deb Falkowski, Gale Pederson, Candy Petersen, <br />Bryan Shirley, Richard Straumann <br />Members Absent: Phil Jenni, Brian Tempas <br />Staff Present: Greg Mack, Scott Yonke, Jody Yungers, Connie Bernardy <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Mr. Straumann moved, seconded by Mr. Ditmore, that the agenda of the Parks and <br />Recreation Commission be approved as mailed. Motion carried. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Chair Pederson asked for a motion to approve the minutes of March 9, 2011. Ms. <br />Falkowski moved, seconded by Mr. Straumann, that the minutes of March 9, 2011 be <br />approved as mailed. Motion carried. <br />ACTIVE LIVING RAMSEY COMMUNITIES! (ALRC) REPORT <br />Connie Bernardy and Jody Yungers distributed the ALRC work program. Connie <br />Bernardy is the ALRC Coordinator. The Initiative was first funded through Blue Cross <br />Blue Shield in 2004. In 2005, community surveys were conducted (1 in St. Paul and 1 <br />in suburban Ramsey County) as a means to determine how physically active people are <br />in Ramsey County. Jan Parker has been the champion for the program from its <br />inception. <br />ALRC is mission focused to enhance infrastructure, transform systems and change <br />policies to make it safer for people to bike or walk. <br />Specific programs of ALRC include: <br />• Be Active, Be Green initiative. <br />• 1,000 Benches Program redesign. <br />1 <br />
