Physical activity and healthy eating books for <br />children at libraries. <br />• Active living infusion for Ramsey County employees. The Ramsey County <br />Sheriffs Department, WIC and Ramsey County Community Human Services are <br />scheduled to get equipment, create space and implement policies that encourage <br />physical activity. <br />• Creating a map portal that includes 59 data layers so specific recreation <br />amenities can be easily found throughout the County. <br />• Advertising of active living opportunities through social media such as Twitter and <br />Facebook. <br />• Working with a consultant for to improve the marketing and promotion of Parks <br />and Recreation revenue - producing facilities. <br />• Updating the ALRC website. <br />BATTLE CREEK REGIONAL PARK PICNIC SHELTER LOCATION AND DESIGN <br />Mr. Yonke presented a plan for construction of a new picnic shelter at Battle Creek <br />Regional Park. The new shelter will be built in the same location as the old dome <br />shelter. It is an elevated area with good visibility. Plans include providing a paved <br />connection to the new shelter from the parking lot and then wrap down to existing trail. <br />The new trail will be a maintenance connection and also meets accessibility criteria. <br />Other improvements include water and electrical service. The shelter will measure 40 x <br />40 foot and will be a prefabricated structure, but customized to tie in with the existing <br />elements in the park such as the Waterworks entrance arch and the pavilion ceiling. A <br />handicapped parking stalls with curb cut will also be installed. Construction will begin in <br />July with a two -month construction period. <br />Mr. Ditmore moved, seconded by Mr. Straumann, to recommend approval of the shelter <br />location and design.
