�: <br />r <br />a <br />The Firs� Regular Schaol �oard Meeting - i6 April 1973 <br />Page three. <br />Elaine Shore - Reporter <br />The Board approved a resolution in regards to the School Baard Elec�ion, naming the po�lin� places, <br />judges and dates for i�he electian of two vacated school board positions. EIectian day was set far <br />Tuesday, May 15th and a resolution to establish a special efection for a�even-member school board <br />was to be he�d at the sarrte time. A date for the canvassing of election bal�ots was set for May 15th <br />at 9:00. <br />A contract was approved for the use of �he old Beti�el Col�ege �y �he Mounds View School Dis�rfc�. <br />The Boart� also ap�roved the sale of bonds in the amount of $2,300,000 to the low bidder:at the <br />interest rate of 4.9f�16 �y Piper, Jaffray and Hapwooc�. <br />A report on the Parent Advisory Councils was heard and it was felt �hat the goafs and purposes of <br />the groups sho�fd be more clearfy defir�ed a�d �hat there should be a carr�rnitmen� in writing from the <br />Board, Superintendent and C�uster Directors, to the effect that they would 6e wilfing to foliow its' <br />recommenciations. <br />The Second Regular Schoo� Board Meeting 23 April 1473 Elaine Shore, Reporter <br />T�e School Cafendar fcr T973-74 was approved. (September 4�h � first day of schoof for students. <br />December 22nd - JanuQry 4th winter recess. January 7th school reconvenes. S}�ring �aca�ion: <br />Apri I 1], 12 and 15th, June 5th - half day for students (last day}. <br />The use of school faciEities was appravec� with the priority lis� to include Young Life as well css Boy <br />Scouts, G irl Scouts, 4-H, YM and YWCA, efic. <br />' Iror�da�e and 1V{oUnds View Counselars for the Drug Entervention and Counseling.program.s r�ported : <br />that �hey are c�head of other districts by 1�0 2 years in their ap�roach to problems of c�rug abuse and <br />recommendations were rrtade for further improvemenfs. <br />A report was R�earc# E�y the Board on fransportation of studen�s wifhir� the dis�ric# and, thogh the study <br />indica�ed #hdt using districfi owned �uses is more economical, it was recommer�ded t�at we use <br />privatedly owned trans�orfiafiion because the initial Expense for the purchasing of a fleet would cost <br />$767,500 -$1,2T5,400; which is no� realis�ic at this tirt�e. I� was suggested that an effort be made <br />to reduce the number of non-eIigible studen#s by i�creasing ��e wplking distances to e�ementary <br />schools.
