Mr Toiaas explained the Counfy was co�cerned with th� righi- <br />iq right-oat due �o its ciose proximity to the signalized intersec�icsn. <br />Cauncilme�uber Holden questioned how the City would maintain this turn-around area. Public <br />Works Direetor Maurer stated a 1-ton truc� wot�ld ha�ve to be used to clear snow. <br />�ublic Works Direcfar Maurer asked if the County was considering a soand walt. Mr. Tolaas <br />rev�ewed..how a 20 foot so�td wall woulc� affect the surrounding properties. Tl�is height was met <br />vsrith same concerr� by reside�ts. He explained various wali heights were then explared to see <br />��hich woulc� benefit the a3rea most. It vvas �ound that a 12 foot wall �vould b�nefit the properties <br />adjacent to Highway 96. Twelve feet would reduce the so�d levels to 50 decibels, which was <br />five below the State stanc�ards and 10 below current noise levels. Mr. Tolaas expiained the <br />existing sout�d walls aior�g Highway 96 were 10 feet. Mr. Tolaas was cancerned that a 20 foot <br />wali wouid greatl�+ dimmish s�.u�lignt on tlte homes directl� adjacent to the wall. <br />Councilmer�ber HoImes questianed why a 12 foot waIl v��as being cansidered at this time. She <br />felt the Counci� l�ad a�ear�y decided on 2� feet. Mr. TQlaas stated he was sirr►ply provid�ng ihe <br />Council with options and noCed the CouneiI wou�d have to �nake the �inal decision_ <br />Councilmember Holden was in favor with the reduced size for the sot�d wall. <br />Mayor Grant suggested the County esta.blish a ti�neline for this decision_ This ti��ovld allow �he <br />Council to discuss �he issue f�rther before ?�aakang a fina� decision.
