ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL — July 25, 2011 10
9. Council Comments and Staff Updates (continued)
City Administrator Klaers stated Staff would look into this and bring the information to a future
work session.
City Administrator Klaers stated Flaherty's is sponsoring a fundraising event on August 20 for
St. Jude. The City sent a letter in the spring to Flaherty's that outlined the requirements and steps
that would need to be taken to get the appropriate approvals for the event. This included the
application process and the need to get the approval of the City Council for the outdoor concert
and the outdoor sale of beer. The time frame for getting all the necessary approvals is now short
and the City may need to look at approving a waiver for some of the requirements. The City
received the application from Flaherty's last Thursday and Staff has been working with them to
get information regarding the event and what they will be doing for this event. Staff will continue
to get the information regarding the event and bring this information to the Council including how
many bikes are expected to attend and specific information regarding the music.
Director of Finance and Administrative Services Iverson stated Flaherty's will need to get
non - profit status in order to have the raffle. The City will need to look into allowing Flaherty's to
sell 3-2 beer in their parking lot. Their current license allows for sales only inside the premises.
Councilmember Holmes stated this is a fundraiser event for a good cause and the City should
work with Flaherty's to make this event successful. There is a work session on August 15 and the
Council could address outstanding issues this at that time.
ADJOURN
MOTION: Councilmember . Holmes moved and Mayor Grant seconded a motion to
adjourn. The motion carried unanimously (4 -0).
Mayor Grant adjourned the Regular City Council Meeting at 8:47 p.m.
Patrick Klaers
City Administrator
David Grant
Mayor
