f. No more than half the total members will consist of management. <br />g. Members shall have a 2 year term, beginning January 1 St of each year. <br />h. Committee membership terms will be staggered, so at least two experienced <br />members are always serving on the committee. <br />3. Employees from each department will be given the opportunity to nominate and <br />select representation upon the end of term or vacancy of inembership. <br />a. By October 1 st of each year, each department manager will promote and <br />request nominations for open committee positions to be filled the following <br />January. <br />b. Employees can nominate themselves or another employee from their <br />department only. <br />c. Nominations should be provided to the department manager no later than <br />November 1 st. <br />d. No later than December lst of each year, the department manager will <br />communicate the nominations and ask for a vote (either verbally or through <br />secret ballot). <br />If no nominations are submitted or if a tie exists, the City Administrator will <br />appoint a member(s) to the committee. <br />f. If a voting member is not able to attend any meeting, an alternate may be <br />designated to attend with all voting privileges. <br />4. A quorum must exist in order for the Safety Committee to take formal action and <br />conduct business. If 5 are on the 5afety Committee, then 3 would be a quorum. <br />Votes will be made by a simple majority. <br />Member Roles <br />Chairperson <br />• Coordinate and direct all safety committee efforts <br />• Communication liaison between management and the committee <br />• Provide feedback from management team to the committee on problems the committee <br />identified and any recommendations it submitted <br />• Develop and distribute meeting agendas <br />• Coordinate and conduct meetings <br />• Facilitate annual goal setting and complete annual safety program review report <br />• Establish necessary deadlines and sub-committee assignments <br />• May also (if time and opportunity allows) serve on a sub-committee and take an active <br />role in other committee activities <br />
